What are the admission requirements for undergraduate programs?

Undergraduate admission requirements vary by program, but generally include:

  • Completion of Form Six (ACSEE) with at least 2 principal passes in relevant subjects
  • For Diploma holders: Relevant diploma with minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed application form with personal statement
  • Official transcripts from previous institutions
  • Two recommendation letters
  • Passport-sized photographs
  • Application fee payment receipt

Some programs may have additional requirements such as portfolios (for design programs) or entrance examinations.

What is the application deadline?

Application deadlines for the 2024 academic year:

  • Early Decision: March 31, 2024
  • Regular Decision: July 15, 2024
  • Late Application: August 30, 2024 (subject to space availability)
  • International Students: June 30, 2024 (to allow visa processing)

We encourage early application as spaces are limited and programs fill quickly.

Can international students apply?

Yes! ACET welcomes applications from international students. International applicants must:

  • Provide certified translations of all academic documents
  • Demonstrate English proficiency (TOEFL: 80+, IELTS: 6.5+)
  • Obtain a student visa before arrival
  • Show proof of financial support
  • Have valid health insurance

Our International Student Office provides support with visa applications and orientation.

How do I check my application status?

You can check your application status by:

  1. Logging into your student dashboard
  2. Checking the email address you used for application
  3. Contacting the Admissions Office at admissions@acet.ac.tz

We typically process applications within 2-3 weeks of submission.

Academics

What is the academic calendar?

ACET operates on a semester system:

  • Fall Semester: September - December
  • Spring Semester: January - April
  • Summer Session: May - July (short courses only)

How are grades calculated?

Grading Scale:

  • A: 80-100% (Excellent) - 4.0 GPA
  • B+: 75-79% (Very Good) - 3.5 GPA
  • B: 70-74% (Good) - 3.0 GPA
  • C+: 65-69% (Satisfactory) - 2.5 GPA
  • C: 60-64% (Fair) - 2.0 GPA
  • D: 50-59% (Pass) - 1.0 GPA
  • F: Below 50% (Fail) - 0.0 GPA

Final grades are based on coursework, examinations, and participation as specified in each course syllabus.

Can I transfer credits from another institution?

Yes, ACET accepts transfer credits from recognized institutions. To transfer credits:

  1. Submit official transcripts from your previous institution
  2. Provide course syllabi for evaluation
  3. Credits must be from courses with grade C or higher
  4. Maximum transfer credits: 50% of program requirements

Transfer credit evaluations are completed after admission.

What is the attendance policy?

Regular attendance is expected for all courses. Our attendance policy:

  • Students must attend at least 80% of classes
  • Excessive absences may result in course failure
  • Excused absences require documentation (medical notes, etc.)
  • Online courses have virtual attendance requirements

Fees & Payments

What is the tuition fee structure?

Tuition fees for 2024 academic year:

  • Short Courses: TZS 250,000 - 500,000 per course
  • Professional Courses: TZS 900,000 - 1,500,000
  • Certificate Programs: TZS 800,000 - 1,200,000 per year
  • Diploma Programs: TZS 1,200,000 - 1,800,000 per year
  • Bachelor's Degrees: TZS 2,500,000 - 3,500,000 per year
  • Master's Degrees: TZS 3,500,000 - 5,000,000 per year

Additional fees: Application fee (TZS 30,000), Registration fee (TZS 50,000), Library fee (TZS 20,000/year)

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Mobile Money: Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, M-Pesa
  • Bank Transfer: Direct deposits to CRDB, NMB, NBC accounts
  • Credit/Debit Cards: Visa, Mastercard (via secure gateway)
  • Bankers Cheque: Payable to "African College of Education & Technology"
  • Cash: At our finance office (receipt provided)

Do you offer scholarships or financial aid?

Yes, ACET offers several financial aid options:

  • Merit-based Scholarships: Up to 50% tuition reduction for outstanding students
  • Need-based Grants: For students with demonstrated financial need
  • Sports Scholarships: For talented athletes
  • HESLB Loans: Government loans for eligible Tanzanian students
  • Payment Plans: Installment options available (3-4 payments per semester)

Apply for financial aid through the Financial Aid Office.

What is your refund policy?

Refund Policy:

  • Before course start: 90% refund (up to 2 weeks before)
  • First week of classes: 50% refund
  • After first week: No refund
  • Medical withdrawals: Pro-rated refund with documentation

Refund processing takes 2-3 weeks and is paid via original payment method.

Student Life

Is accommodation available?

ACET provides both on-campus and off-campus accommodation options:

  • On-campus hostels: TZS 400,000 - 600,000 per semester (shared rooms)
  • Off-campus housing: Assistance finding private accommodation near campus
  • International student housing: Priority for international students

All hostels include electricity, water, and security. Meal plans available separately.

What student clubs and activities are available?

ACET has over 20 student organizations including:

  • Academic clubs (Computer Science Club, Business Club)
  • Cultural clubs (Tanzanian Cultural Society, International Students Association)
  • Sports teams (Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics)
  • Special interest groups (Debate Club, Environmental Club, Rotaract)

New clubs can be formed with 10+ interested students.

What support services are available for students?

ACET offers comprehensive student support services:

To reset your password:

  1. Go to the login page
  2. Click "Forgot Password" link
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Check your email for reset instructions

How do I access online learning platforms?

ACET uses several online platforms:

  • Student Portal: dashboard.php - For applications and records

  • Virtual Classroom: Zoom/Google Meet links provided in courses
  • Library Portal: library.acet.ac.tz - Digital resources
