Frequently Asked Questions
When should I apply for financial aid?
We encourage students to apply for financial aid as early as possible. The priority deadline is March 31st for fall admission. However, we accept applications on a rolling basis and awards are made until funds are exhausted.
Can international students apply for financial aid?
Yes, international students are eligible for merit-based scholarships and some grants. However, government loans (HESLB) are only available to Tanzanian citizens. International students should contact our office for country-specific opportunities.
What is the average financial aid package?
The average financial aid package at ACET is approximately TZS 1,500,000 per year. This can include a combination of scholarships, grants, and work-study opportunities. About 80% of our students receive some form of financial assistance.
How do I apply for HESLB loans?
HESLB loan applications are submitted online through the OLAS portal (olas.heslb.go.tz). The application window typically opens in May and closes in July. You'll need your admission letter, academic certificates, and financial documents.
Can I combine multiple aid types?
Yes, students can combine different types of aid. For example, you might receive a partial scholarship plus a work-study position and a HESLB loan. However, total aid cannot exceed the cost of attendance.
